URBAN WANDERERS
every Wednesday at 7pm
Every Wednesday evening for one hour, the communities of Crescent Heights and Renfrew (Regal Terrace) will become mobile as we collectively wander the streets, parks, back alleys and forgotten spaces of the community. Like archaeologists who look for the past in the present, we will stumble across places that hold significance for one person or another—a park, an old friend, or a house. These sites or people will spur stories and conversations that will help us to map the community while on the move.
ASK AN EXPERT
Is there that one question that you keep asking yourself over and over again? Why doesn’t my girlfriend call me anymore? What kind of trees can I plant in Calgary? What should I buy my granddaughter for her birthday? Then come Ask An Expert! During this summer long question and answer series community members are invited to eat a snack, drink some tea and engage in dialogue with a selected local resident who will answer any question you might need answers to. A whimsical, but critically aimed activity, Ask An Expert seeks to establish a temporary site where personal, social, or cultural conundrums might be resolved.
TELL IT LIKE IT ISN’T!
A public lecture series that invites a local resident to address topics that pertain to their own cultural practices and experiences of the neighbourhood. Lecture topics will range from personal biographies, how to garden in Calgary, where one sleep when the snow falls, or how our neighbourhood children perceive the community.

VEGGIE POTLUCK
Sharing food with other people is one way to make eating not only more enjoyable, but also to show that you care and trust the people you are eating with, regardless of who they are or where they come from. At Veggie Potluck, you can bring your favourite meat-free dish to eat and share with others! We will sit down and eat it all together. Be creative – anything goes!
SHOW AND TELL
We know! Show and Tell is so elementary school. But is it really? We spend much of our time explaining the significance of objects to our friends (new phones, rings, coffee mugs, family photographs, etc.) We do this because these objects hold meaning and memories–they are autobiographical. So bring something interesting you’d like to share? It can be a piece of information, an old relic, something cool you own, or something you found on the way over. Once assembled we will take turns talking about whatever we brought.

Postings: A discussion of Collaborative Drawing
Saturday May 23rd – 4-7pm
6 Local designers/artists have been putting together a traveling show through support from the AFA and the Grand Prairie Art gallery. We have been exploring collective drawing as a dialogue generator. The use of drawing as a thinking tool and a communication tool between interdisciplinary groups. The outcome has been a series of large collective murals/drawings and paintings created in response to discussions we have been having about marginalization in the city. The show is scheduled to begin touring next fall and as part of the preparation for that tour we are putting together a catalogue. Part of that catalogue is going to be a record of how other artists/citizens/children/experts respond to the imagery in the canvases. (Imagine Chris Cran and a 4 year old having a discussion about issues of homelessness inspired by a painting).
